Hi Praggya, thank you so much for your careful analysis on this topic, something I was looking out for quite some time now. I have a question and would love to hear your opinion. You write „ In my experience, at some point Ra ceases to be an important figure in your experiment…“. My sense is that there are quite a few HD professionals out there who actually emphasize how important it is to listen to „source material“ ergo to Ra. I always found that statement a bit „cult-ish“ although I completely agree with the points you’re making and don’t believe HD is to be compared to cults the way outlined them in the beginning. But still, doesn’t this argument put him on a pedestal and gets people to believe that there‘s a special energy to be gained through listening to „his“ voice and lectures? To the outside it can look like a genius strategy to invent the idea of source material to have Ra forever connected to the HD system and manifested in History while other systems like the I‘Ching, Astrology etc. show that it doesn’t need a specific „persona“ to be legit.
In my opinion, you don’t have to do anything. Do I personally enjoy Ra and his frequency? Yes. Would I recommend listening to him? Yes. Should you do that against your authority? No. Another point to be made here is that Ra was given the knowledge in a more open ended way. He is the one that came up with type and strategy and essentially the Human Design System. So perhaps that is why a lot of people emphasise learning from the source of the Human Design System. But I would still say listen to your body. If you resonate with him, great. If you don’t, you need to force yourself.
I think the reason many people urge others to listen to “source material” is because there is a lot of misinformation being spread about in the HD community. Many people take the original “source” info and manipulate it to their liking. In order to steer clear of misleading or totally incorrect or backwards info, it is important to get familiar with source wisdom.
Thank you so much for this article. I think it's awesome to have such deep analysis openly available so whenever someone says HD is a cult, I can give your treatise to them. Very well done!

Thank you for this analytical work. Really well done. Thorough and precise and seems to cover all the important aspects/questions in a satisfying manner. So happy to see this piece exit, I've been thinking of writing something like this myself for so long (and maybe I still will at some point) but this covers so much, and will be a great resource for further analytical work on Human Design - which is sorely needed. I will definetly refer to it in my own articles, if the energy shows up for me to write them. Your role modeling a way forward here that I hope more people in HD will follow. I do find a lot of people respond with "hostility towards scientific criticism", out and around in the online HD space - and I recognize it in myself too. As it is so so personal, and challening to have something that has meant so much for oneself being met with disbelief by the other. It's quite natural, and getting passed that to properly address the insecurities and questions requires stamina. Good job!
